What it does
- Pick any seat in any boat
- Bow to stroke, sweep or sculling: 1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 4-, 4+ or 8+. Sweep rowers choose port or starboard and the rig.
- Real courses
- The Head of the Charles in Boston, 4.8 km upstream under the Weeks, Anderson and Eliot bridges. The Schuylkill 2K in Philadelphia, side by side. A buoyed regatta lake. Built from OpenStreetMap.
- A crew that rows with you
- The app reads your stroke from the PM5 and predicts your catch, so the whole boat swings with you, not a beat behind.
- A cox who calls your race
- Calls react to what's happening: a crew closing on your stern, a bridge coming up, your rate. The voice runs on your phone, with a choice of accents.
- Crews to race
- Rivals are paced from how you've been rowing lately, or set their levels yourself. Head-race passing on the Charles; lanes on the 2K. Or row solo against your best.
- Your numbers, or none
- Split, rate, watts, race clock, place and distance to go, straight from the PM5. Turn them off and just row.
- Summer, autumn, any hour
- Choose the season and time of day, and a steady, natural or head-cam view.
- No erg handy?
- Demo mode rows for you, so you can look around the courses before you sit down.

Just the water
Thirty seconds each, numbers off, with the app's own sound. Recorded in the iPhone Simulator in demo mode; on a phone it looks the same.
Get rowing
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the TestFlight invite. It installs Apple's TestFlight app first if you don't have it.
- Install Rowitreal from TestFlight, open it and tap Row.
- On the PM5, go to Main Menu › Connect. The phone finds your erg and connects by itself; there's no pairing.
What you need
- An iPhone or iPad on iOS 17 or later. A stand or arm that holds it in landscape at eye level helps.
- A Concept2 RowErg with a PM5, or a Bluetooth FTMS rower such as the Rogue Echo Rower.
- No erg? Tap Demo to look around.
